Rose

An elegant, aromatic, and beautifully blush-colored cocktail from the 1920s, the Rose is a sophisticated drink that deserves a revival. It's a vermouth-forward classic, balanced by the bright fruit notes of Kirsch (cherry brandy) and a hint of raspberry.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 1 oz Kirsch (Cherry Brandy)
  • 1 bar spoon Raspberry Syrup
  • Garnish: Maraschino Cherry

Instructions

  1. Chill the Glass: Place a coupe or small cocktail glass in the freezer to get it very cold.
  2. Combine and Stir: Add the dry vermouth, kirsch, and raspberry syrup to a mixing glass filled with ice.
  3. Stir Well: Stir with a bar spoon for about 20-30 seconds to perfectly chill and dilute the ingredients.
  4. Strain and Garnish: Strain the mixture into your chilled glass and garnish with a single, high-quality maraschino cherry.

Pro Tips for Perfection

What is Kirsch?: Kirsch, or Kirschwasser, is a clear, unsweetened fruit brandy distilled from cherries. It provides a pure, potent cherry essence that is very different from sweet cherry liqueurs. It's the key to the Rose's unique, aromatic profile.

A Vermouth Showcase: This is a vermouth-forward cocktail, so using a high-quality dry vermouth (like Dolin or Noilly Prat) is essential. And always remember to keep your vermouth refrigerated after opening to preserve its flavor!
