Spellbound Showdown is a team-based party spelling game where players physically write their answers. Get your guests, pens, and notepads ready, then read these instructions aloud.

Game Overview

Two teams will go head-to-head in a spelling challenge. Our host, 'Captain Confusion', will announce a word, and it's up to you to spell it correctly to score points for your team!

The Goal

The first team to reach 50 points wins the game. But watch out for the "Last Chance" rule!

How to Play a Round

1. Form Teams: First, we'll divide into two teams. The host will enter the team names.
2. Choose a Speller: On your team's turn, select one player to be the "speller". It's best to rotate spellers each round!
3. Listen Carefully: The host will click "Speak Word." The speller has 20 seconds to secretly write the word on a notepad.
4. Time's Up!: When the timer runs out, the speller must immediately show their written answer to everyone.
5. The Reveal: The host will click "Show Word" to display the correct spelling on the screen for everyone to verify.

Scoring & Winning

• If the spelling is correct, the host clicks Thumbs Up (👍) for +5 points.
• If the spelling is wrong or time ran out, the host clicks Thumbs Down (👎) for -3 points.
• The "Last Chance" Rule: If Team A reaches the winning score, but Team B is close enough to tie, Team B gets one final turn. If they succeed, it's a tie-breaker!

Sudden Death Tie-Breaker

If the game is tied, we enter SUDDEN DEATH! The host speaks a new word, and both teams write it down at the same time. The first team to fail while the other succeeds loses. This continues until there is one clear winner!
